BD Vaccination Rules

11. Equine Influenza Vaccination
To protect the health of the other competing horses and the biosecurity of the venue, a valid passport must accompany the horse to all competitions and be produced on request. Failure to comply is a disciplinary offence and will debar the horse from competing at the event for which it has been entered.

A horse will not be permitted to
compete unless it has a current vaccination against equine influenza which complies with the following conditions:
• An initial course of two injections for primary vaccination, not less than 21 days and not more than 92 days apart, are required before being eligible to compete
• A first booster injection must be given between 150 and 215 days after the second injection of primary vaccination
• Subsequent booster injections must be given at regular intervals of no more than 12 months, commencing after the first booster injection
• The full course or booster must have been administered at least 7 days before arriving at the competition
The vaccination record(s) in the horse’s passport, must be completed, signed and stamped line by line, by an appropriate veterinary surgeon (who is neither the owner nor the rider of the horse).

In the interests of equine welfare and to maintain optimum protection levels for your horse, it is strongly recommended that the most recent booster injection is given within six months + 21 days prior to the horse competing.

For those competing under FEI rules, please refer to FEI rules. The responsibility to comply with this rule lies with the competitor, who should consult with their veterinarian.

Horses being found without adequate and up to date vaccinations will not be allowed to compete and will be barred from competing until such a time that they have been given their first and second vaccinations. The registration of any horse found in breach of this rule will be suspended until rectified.

Brought to you by Original Equestrian and sponsored by Cooke Coachbuilders – we are proud to present the return of the CARNIVAL OF DRESSAGE! A fabulous, fun Dressage Event, combining a three-day stay away Unaffiliated Dressage Championships with a pre-competition training camp, activities, demos and trade stands. All at the stunning facilities of Aintree International EC, Liverpool. To get the full effect come and join us for camp on 22nd-24th July for training with Grand Prix Riders Mat Burnett and Charlotte Smithwhite, they are all geared up to help you improve your test riding. It’s the perfect way to get your horse used to the arenas and concentrate on scoring those extra all-important marks, whilst having fun with friends, or making new friends. To book camp email katie@equineshoot.com  On Thursday night before the competition begins, we will have an amazing Gala Evening Demo details TBC . If you are already planning to stable with us on Friday and Saturday night, then you can add an extra night of stabling on the Thursday for just a little extra. It will be fun, informative and interactive. Campers get a free ticket, tickets will be available to everyone else (whether you are competing or not – so bring all your friends).

Then it’s onto the Unaffiliated Championships 25-27th July, ride a test on two of the days and your combined scores will decide the placings. We have classes from Intro- Advanced Medium and sections for Junior and Senior riders, plus the return of our amazing Artistic Dressage Gala Evening Class which had us all up and dancing last year. All the tests are in the main arena and we are bringing back the very popular team competition as well! Also for the CARNIVAL we are in the process of arranging trade stands, demos and activities to keep you entertained. We do take our dressage seriously, but we want to have serious fun whilst doing it! Why not join us for this great event, making dressage fun again!

Entries for Camp open soon, entries for the Championships open Spring 2025.
